Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game is a side-scrolling brawler that was made in retro-style to harken back to the 8-bit and 16-bit era of video gaming. The game’s plot is the same as the series it was based on; the story follows a slacker who falls head-over-heels when he meets an out of town delivery girl, Ramona V. Flowers, and he must battle with her seven evil exes in order to continue dating her. Players can play as Scott Pilgrim, Kim Pine, Stephen Stills, and Ramona Flowers as they battle their way across countless goons in a video game version of Toronto and ultimately take down Ramona’s seven evil exes. Like the classic beat ’em up River City Ransom, the game features RPG Elements that allows Scott and his friends to earn money to purchase various items from various stores all throughout Toronto, and gain new abilities and level-up as they beat up enemies.

Gil exited with a runner on first and no outs in the fifth inning. From there, five Yankees relievers slammed the door, combining to allow one hit and one walk in five scoreless innings. They struck out seven. Those five relievers: Tim Hill, Clay Holmes, Mark Leiter Jr., Luke Weaver, and Tim Mayza. Weaver got the biggest outs, cutting through 2-3-4-5 hitters with three strikeouts.
It was exciting to learn that Shohei Ohtani, after subluxating his left shoulder while being thrown out trying to steal at the end of Game 2, was going to be in the starting lineup for Game 3. But now that we’ve watched him come to the plate five times … are we sure Shohei should be playing right now? Ohtani’s swings have been awkward and halting; he hasn’t hit the ball hard even once and he seems to be in rather obvious pain anytime he swings and misses. (Even so, he did reach base twice, on a walk and hit-by-pitch.)
Hudson made a mess of that inning. He hit Aaron Judge with a pitch, gave up a Jazz Chisholm Jr. single off the wall, and walked Giancarlo Stanton to load the bases. Volpe then made him pay with the grand slam.
If Gil, with the whole world watching, has a bad night, the Yankees’ season is going to be over. And he’s, of course, facing a team that has been on an absolute heater at the plate and will wait him out if he can’t find the zone. Good luck, kid.
Knack walked Austin Wells. After a double steal by Volpe and Wells to take third and second, Alex Verdugo drove in Volpe on a fielder’s choice grounder to second base. Lux tried to throw out Volpe at home plate, but his throw was a bit off the mark, and Volpe’s speed allowed him to slide past catcher Will Smith.
