College world series game today
Texas A&M beat the Vols, 9-5, in Game 1 of the MCWS finals, then Tennessee completed the come-from-behind feat for the title, using late offense to top the Aggies in Game 2, 4-1, and maintaining an early lead in Game 3. With an RBI and a home run in Game 3, Dylan Dreiling won Most Outstanding Player of the 2024 MCWS. Dreiling also made history as the first player to hit a home run in all three of the MCWS finals games.
Despite some familiar brands making the trip to Omaha, this year’s national champion will be a new one. The most recent champion in this year’s College World Series field is Florida, who won in 2017. Of the remaining seven teams, the only one with a national title this century is 2015 champion Virginia.
It was an incredible season from end-to-end for the Volunteers. Not only were they the first No. 1 overall seed to win the National title since Miami in 1999, but their 60 total wins are the most for a CWS champion since 1989.
