World war game 3

The Yankees are only the fourth team out of 25 to win Game 4 in the World Series after losing the first three. No team in World Series history has ever forced a Game 6 after falling behind 3-0 https://alltestmaker.com/adam-lz-net-worth/. The Yankees will try to do that back at home on Wednesday with their ace, Gerrit Cole, on the mound.

The two teams have faced each other in 11 World Series, more than any other teams. When the Dodgers were Brooklyn-based, the Yankees had a commanding 6-1 edge in World Series matchups. Since the Dodgers moved to Hollywood in the late 50s, the teams are even at two a piece. They last met in 1981.

The Yankees, however, did their part in Cleveland with help from slugger Juan Soto — acquired in a monumental seven-player preseason trade with the Padres — who hit a go-ahead 3-run shot off rookie Hunter Gaddis to break a 2-2 deadlock in the top of the 10th. The home run would send New York to its 41st Championship series in five games, seeking the franchise’s first title since 2009 and 27th overall.

Game 3 world series 2024

This was the first World Series to feature the teams with the best record in each league since the 2020 World Series. This was just the fifth time in the Wild Card era (1995–present) where both teams with the best record in each league faced each other in the World Series.

In the top of the first inning, after Shohei Ohtani’s leadoff walk, Freddie Freeman hit a two-run home run, tying a record by homering in his fifth straight World Series game going back to the 2021 World Series, where he appeared as a member of the Atlanta Braves. In the top of the third inning, Tommy Edman led off with a walk, advanced on a groundout and then scored on a single by Mookie Betts. The Dodgers threatened again in the fourth with runners at first and third and no outs, but the rally was thwarted when Gavin Lux was tagged out on a close play at home on an attempted squeeze bunt by Edman. In the bottom half of the inning, Giancarlo Stanton doubled and tried to score on Anthony Volpe’s single, but he was also cut down at the plate via an accurate throw by left fielder Teoscar Hernandez to keep the Yankees off the board.

This series marked the twelfth World Series meeting between the Dodgers and Yankees and the first since 1981. It was also the thirteenth meeting between teams from New York City and Los Angeles for a major professional sports championship. This previously happened in four World Series (1963, 1977, 1978, 1981), three NBA Finals (1970, 1972, and 1973) and the 2014 Stanley Cup Finals. Following the 2024 World Series, LA teams held a five to four advantage over New York City teams in terms of championship matchups between the two cities.

In all best-of-seven series, teams winning Game 1 have gone on to take the series 125 of 191 times (65%). That includes 23 of 29 times (79%) in the World Series since 1995. In all series under the current 2-3-2 format, teams winning Game 1 at home have gone on to take the series 68 of 101 times (67%).

Though it had been a long time since these baseball behemoths last met on this stage, the Dodgers and Yankees, facing each other for the 12th time, are the most common World Series opponents. These are the clubs that staged the first Subway Series, back when the Bronx Bombers defeated “Dem Bums” from Brooklyn mere months before the U.S. entered World War II. These are the franchises that battled each other while the Bronx was burning and Reggie Jackson was taking on the “Mr. October” moniker. These are the teams that last coexisted in the Fall Classic in 1981, when the Dodgers’ rotation was led by a rookie phenom named Fernando Valenzuela.

So the Yankees took a 3-2 lead into the bottom of the 10th. Ohtani came to the plate with two on and one out. The Yankees turned to the lefty Cortes, who hadn’t pitched since Sept. 18 because of elbow trouble.

Game of thrones world map

Like Dorne, the Vale is distinguished by its position of relative isolation in relation to the rest of Westeros. Located north-east of the Riverlands and just south of the Neck, it’s largely cut off from the rest of Westeros by the Mountains of the Moon and is virtually inaccessible by land during the dreaded winter. This position has allowed the region to remain politically relevant while also allowing it the luxury of sitting out major continental conflicts if it chooses to do so. House Arryn is its historic leader, and their seat, the Eyrie, straddles a mountain peak naturally protected by the Bloody Gate, a pass that allows access to the Eyrie from the West but is too narrow for foreign armies to traverse. Conveniently nested in the Vale, the Eyrie is very easy to defend, whether it is summer or winter in Game of Thrones.

As with the maps of the Free Cities, Slaver’s Bay and the Dothraki Sea, in this map each settlement is illustrated rather than being marked with an icon. I had a great time trawling the references (mostly westeros.org) to pull out the distinguishing features of the different towns and castles.

In an effort to be as spoiler-free as possible, the map also includes notes on cities that are more heavily explored in later seasons or haven’t been explored at all. Users have the option to set restrictions on what information they can see on the map and if they’re not fully caught up, certain areas will remain hidden.

I knew from the start that this was going to be a folded map folio – even the very early product mockup images were in that direction. Personally I rather like it – I grew up with shelves of folded ordnance survey maps. To me a map without creases is just a little wrong, but then that’s me.

1) HBO previously revealed a map of Essos on their website for the TV show that is completely different to the one in the poster collection. GRRM said he’d thoroughly reworked his ideas for the shape of Essos at some point. Was that a process he’d already completed by the time you got involved, or did you get to see an evolution of his ideas for the shape of the continent?
