As formalised in the memorandum of understanding, “only events that are not on the program of the Olympic Games can be included in the program of The World Games”. For example, canoe polo is a discipline at The World Games, while canoe sprint and canoe slalom are disciplines at the Olympic Games, despite all three being governed by the International Canoe Federation.

The Los Angeles Dodgers won their eighth World Series title in franchise history and first since 2020 on Wednesday night, coming back from a five-run deficit to complete a Hollywood ending to their season.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it wasn’t a full season. They played in a bubble. They never had to travel during the postseason and play in front of hostile crowds. It’s not real until you celebrate with a parade.

Before breaking the game open in the eighth inning, the Yankees had only five hits and the bottom of their lineup had driven in their first seven runs, but it worked. On a night when staying alive was the only thing that mattered, the Yankees finally got the big hit they needed, then managed to add on until the game was well out of reach.

Because Tuesday’s bullpen game went sideways so early, with Daniel Hudson serving up a grand slam in the third inning, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was able to give the rest of his “A” bullpen the night off. That’s a luxury the Yankees have not had. The Dodgers will have the more rested bullpen in Game 5.

Chase Utley matched Jackson’s mark in the Philadelphia Phillies‘ 2009 World Series loss to the Yankees before George Springer had a five-homer showing in the Astros’ 2017 World Series win against the Dodgers.

Game world series two

In the bottom of the first, Kyle Schwarber drew a walk, and Bryce Harper hit a two-run home run to right field. Alec Bohm and Brandon Marsh hit solo home runs for the Phillies in the second. Bohm’s solo home run to left field in the second inning marked the 1,000th home run in World Series history. When Marsh also homered in that inning, the Phillies became the first team to hit three home runs in the first two innings of a World Series game. In the bottom of the fifth, Schwarber hit a two-run home run to dead center, and Rhys Hoskins hit a solo home run to left, making the Phillies the fourth team to hit a record five home runs in a single World Series game, joining the 1928 Yankees (Game 4 of the 1928 World Series), 1989 Athletics (Game 3 of the 1989 World Series), and 2017 Astros (Game 5 of the 2017 World Series); they are also the only team of these four to go on to lose the World Series. Furthermore, McCullers became the first pitcher in history to surrender five home runs in a postseason game. Ryne Stanek relieved McCullers after Hoskins’ home run. Suárez came out of the game after throwing five scoreless innings. Connor Brogdon, Kyle Gibson, Nick Nelson, and Andrew Bellatti each pitched a scoreless inning to complete the shutout as the Phillies won 7–0. All seven runs were scored via a home run.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts just took the ball from him in the top of the seventh inning after a masterful performance. The Japanese right-hander threw 6.1 innings, allowing just one hit, two walks and striking out four.

The Houston Astros entered the 2022 MLB postseason as the AL West champions and the top-seeded AL team, while the Phillies won a wild card, earning the sixth and final NL playoff berth. The Phillies took a 2–1 lead after three games, before the Astros won the final three games to win the series. Jeremy Peña won the World Series Most Valuable Player Award, the first position player to win the award as a rookie.

The game remained tied through nine innings, and entered extra innings, becoming the first World Series game to be decided in extra innings since Game 3 of 2018. In the top of the tenth inning, Realmuto hit a solo home run off Luis García to give the Phillies a one-run lead. After a Harper single and a Bryson Stott walk, García was taken out of the game and replaced with Ryne Stanek, who was able to get out of the inning. In the bottom of the tenth inning, David Robertson struck out Yordan Alvarez before giving up a double to Bregman. Tucker tipped off a fair ball that bounced in front of home plate and was thrown out at first. Robertson walked Gurriel, bringing pinch hitter Aledmys Díaz to the plate. Robertson threw a wild pitch to advance the runners to second and third. After working the count to 2–1, Díaz was hit on the elbow by Robertson and started toward first base. However, the home plate umpire ruled that Díaz had leaned into the pitch, resulting in ball three. On the next pitch, Díaz grounded out, ending the game. It was the first time since 2002 that a team had overcome a five-run deficit to win a World Series game, when the San Francisco Giants – also managed by Dusty Baker – blew such a lead in Game 6.

Old world game

Old World clearly shows its origins, coming from a small team of developers intimately connected with 4x strategy games. It adds several new mechanics to an established genre, some of which are clearly brilliant and others that seem less significant. Old World succeeds in giving genre fans a clear alternative to their favorite games, but it seems unconcerned with welcoming the uninitiated, thanks to a fussy interface, lack of patient tutorials, and a focus on a fairly narrow slice of history and culture. Fundamentally, Old World both honors a tradition and gently pushes it forward.

Includes 6 items: Old World, Old World – Heroes of the Aegean, Old World – The Sacred and The Profane, Old World – Pharaohs of the Nile, Old World – Wonders and Dynasties, Old World – Behind the Throne

Summary Conquer the Old World in this historical, epic strategy game from Soren Johnson, Lead Designer of Civilization IV and Offworld Trading Company. Every year is a turn, and each leader is a mere mortal, so your lasting legacy will be the dynasty you leave behind.

While the menus may get overly busy, the map looks excellent and presents a lot of useful information at a glance. It might not be quite as high fidelity as Civ 6 or the upcoming Humankind, but the units and buildings are a bit less exaggerated and stylized, so I feel more like I’m looking at a real place and not at a game board. And that’s a pretty big deal for me.

It’s nowhere near as complex as Crusader King’s inter-personal system, which forms the foundations of that entire game, but it’s not supposed to be. The 4X stuff is what we’re here for with Old World, and the character-building present here is just some very well-implemented icing on the cake, as there’s just enough of it to make it feel like you’re running an imperial household (the way it impacts diplomacy is great), but not so much that it ever feels like it’s keeping you from the main action of moving units or building cities.
